Allison sherburne (MA Fine Art)
Allison attended Hertfordshire College of Art and Design in 1979 completing a one year Diploma in Art and Design and then an Art Foundation Course. Drawn towards fashion and textiles she received a BA Honours Degree from Leicester Polytechnic in 1984 and later that year designed an avant-garde collection of clothes for the Crafts Council Texstyles project culminating in a Gala Presentation at the V&A Museum and subsequently worked in the capital for some leading fashion houses. However during the 90’s whilst raising her children Allison focused on drawing, painting and sculpture and lectured in art and design.
In 2002 she exhibited Spiritual Escape a 2m tall sculpture for Platform Art at Gloucester Road Underground Station which was the result of a body of work created during the Artists Access to Art College Scheme at Hertfordshire University, also in 2002 she was awarded 1st Prize at the Hertfordshire Open, Margaret Harvey Gallery by the St Albans and District Council for paintings Dream Pool I & II. Allison has shown at Battersea Contemporary Art Fair, Hertfordshire Open Studios, Space 2 Gallery - Watford Museum and many local exhibitions and galleries and in 2014 completed a Master’s Degree in Fine Art.
The human form has been the dominant focus in her work from life drawing, fashion design and the Yoga body with painting series Being and Moonlight drawing inspiration from the rhythms people create when gathering.
